Field_Notes – The North Escaping 2023

Second Order was one of the groups of Field_Notes – The North Escaping. Second Order group members embed themselves into the other groups with the aim to document their work, gain insight into their approaches and offer counter perspectives. The aim is to critically look at the groups methods and practises of the field, which might include the encouragement to step out of predefined schemes or even to violate traditional field norms in order to experiment with new ideas.

Andscapes was one of the groups of Field_Notes – The North Escaping. The group critically engaged with questions of scale and the tools used to understand our surroundings. In this blog post, the group shares their journey and process during the two-week-long field laboratory.

Wait and Hear was one of the groups of Field_Notes – The North Escaping. The group proposed an open exploration based on listening and the groups activities were based on both listening and somatic experience. Field_Notes – The North Escaping groups include professionals and practitioners from various backgrounds, who will travel to Kilpisjärvi for two-weeks of intense field work. The groups are hosted by Erich Berger, Till Bovermann and Elizabeth McTernan.
