TRINGA - short film
posted by tom on 6 August 2015

TRINGA is a kaleidoscopic audio/visual experiment taking inspiration from a field recording of the constant repetitive alarm call of the Common Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) which is often heard on the tundra lakes and pools. The varying lichen types depicted have played a fundamental role in this environment. Known as a ‘Pioneer Species’ lichens were the primary life forms to colonise the bare rocks left after the last ice age. By breaking down the rocks into the first soil they enabled further organisms, plants and animals to establish and the entire arctic ecosystem to develop.
