Living Ashes
We are exploring the implications of concepts of agency, matter, animation, life and death through the chemical process of saponification and protocells. We have started experimenting with the saponification process. We have discussed what we would like to do experiments with. The first experiments of making potash and lye have been done with birch tree ashes. We also would like to try banana peels, bio waste and other living material for making lye.
