Welcome to the exhibition opening on Thursday, September 2 from 17-19h! The artists will be present via zoom from 18h onwards to introduce the exhibition.

Trans*Plant is a transdisciplinary project, initiated by Quimera Rosa in 2016, that utilizes living systems and is based on self-experimentation: it is a process that involves a human to plant transition in various formats. The project juxtaposes disciplines such as arts, philosophy, biology, ecology, physics, botany, medicine, nursing, pharmacology and electronics. 

Trans*Plant aims to involve in debates surrounding the Anthropocene from a perspective that is not based on 'human exceptionalism and methodological individualism' (Donna Haraway) but to address the world and its inhabitants as products of 'cyborg processes', of 'becoming with' (Vinciane Despret) and of 'sympoiesis' (Haraway).

Quimera Rosa (Pink Chimera) is a Barcelona-based collective researching and experimenting on body, technology and identities. Their work is based on the deconstruction of sex and gender identities and the interaction between body, machine and environment. 

Quimera Rosa makes bodies a platform for public intervention, breaking up limits between public and private. They are particularly interested in the ways art, science and technology intertwine and their functions in producing subjectivities. Currently, Quimera Rosa focuses on creating transdisciplinary projects and performances, elaborating electronic devices that work with body practices and biohacking experiments. 
 
Most of Quimera Rosa's work is collaborative and always free of patents and proprietary codes. Their work has been presented in various contexts, from streets to contemporary art centres, bars, galleries, universities, concert halls, colleges, discos, museums, squats, festivals and national scenes.

Trans*Plant on Quimera Rosa -kollektiivin vuonna 2016 käynnistämä monialainen kokeellinen pro- jekti, joka hyödyntää eläviä organismeja ja sisältää ihmisen ja kasvin välisiä siirtymiä monissa muo- doissa. Projekti levittyy taiteiden, filosofian, biologian, ekologian, fysiikan, kasvitieteen, hoivan, farma- kologian ja elektroniikan alueille. 

Trans*Plant osallistuu Antroposeenin ympärillä käytävään debattiin näkökulmasta, joka ei perustu humanistiseen ekseptionalismiin ja metodologiseen individualismiin (Donna Haraway) vaan tar- kastelee maailmaa ja sen asukkaita kyborgisten prosessien, kanssatulemisen (cyborg processes, becoming with; Vinciane Despret) ja sympoiesiksen (Haraway) tuotteina.

 Barcelonalaiskollektiivi Quimera Rosa tutkii kehoja, teknologiaa ja identiteettejä. Kollektiivin työskentelyn ytimessä ovat sukupuoli- ja seksuaali-identiteettien purkaminen sekä kehon, koneiden ja ympäristön väliset suhteet. 

Quimera Rosa käyttää kehoja alustoina julkisille interventioille purkaen rajoja julkisen ja yksityisen välillä. Kollektiivia kiinnostavat erityisesti ne tavat, joilla taide, tiede ja teknologia kietoutuvat yhteen – sekä niiden yhteys keholliseen praktiikkaan ja biohakkerointikokeiluihin. 

Quimera Rosan työskentely perustuu usein yhteistyöhön ja se on aina vapaata patenteista ja omistajuudesta. Kollektiivin töitä on esitetty erilaisissa konteksteissa: kaduilla, nykytaidekeskuksis- sa, baareissa, gallerioissa, yliopistoissa, konserttisaleissa, lukioissa, diskoissa, museoissa, talonval- tauksissa, festivaaleilla ja kansallisareenoilla.

The exhibition is part of Biofriction, a European collaboration project committed to supporting bioart and biohacking practices. The Biofriction project is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

SOLU-tilan näyttely on osa eurooppalaista Biofriction-yhteistyöprojektia, jonka tarkoitus on biotaiteen ja biohakkeroinnin käytäntöjen tukeminen. Biofrictionia tukee Euroopan Unionin Luova Eurooppa -ohjelma.
