Bioart Society, in collaboration with different partner organizations, has just launched three open calls for three different opportunities. We are are looking for a Finnish or Finland-based artist for Tokyo Art & Science Research Residency, innovative proposals for the Rewilding Cultures Mobility Conversation, and multidisciplinary participants for Field_Notes – Living Methodologies field laboratory. Below more information about each open call. All open calls have 31st March as their deadline.

Tokyo Art & Science Research Residency is a month-long opportunity organized in collaboration with BioClub Tokyo and the Finnish Institute in Japan. The selected artist is offered international and local travel, accommodation and other residency related costs such as equipment (to be agreed upon separately) up to 4000 euros. During the residency, the facilities of the BioClub Tokyo will be available for the artist and research visits within the wider network of BioClub Tokyo and the Finnish Institute in Japan are supported. Artists in all stages of their career are welcome to apply, but they are required to reside in Finland and/or be Finnish. We encourage not only artists working with biology and life sciences to apply but also those in the wider field of art and science.

Running bi-annually since 2011, Field_Notes brings together a group of inter/transdisciplinary practitioners to experiment with collective research and approaches to fieldwork while also responding to wider contemporary issues. Field_Notes – Living Methodologies responds to shifts in the field of art and science insisting that how we research matters. Engaging with specific sites via a range of methodological approaches has been vital to previous Field_Notes; building on past iterations, this feral field lab attends to the methodologies themselves. 7 practitioners will be selected via the open call to accompany 7 invited practitioners at Kilpisjärvi for 10 days.
