AVOIN HAKU taidetta ja tiedettä yhdistäville taideteoksille ja työpajalle (English below)

Biotaiteen Seura ja Annantalon taidekeskus Helsingissä etsivät valmiita taideteoksia sekä työpajaa taidetta, tiedettä ja ekologiaa yhdistävään ryhmänäyttelyyn. Teokset tulevat esille Annantalon päägalleriaan 3.6.–31.10.2020 ja näyttely on osa Helsinki Biennaalin oheisohjelmaa.

Näyttelyssä pohditaan asioita, joita ei voi havaita ihmisen aistein. Ajatusta voi lähestyä monella tavalla: pienenä, tärkeänä, näkymättömänä, kokojen ja ekosysteemien suhteena, kaukaisuuteen ja koko maailmankaikkeuteen ulottuvana. Näyttelyn tavoitteena on tuoda nykytaidetta kaikkien – erityisesti lasten ja nuorten – ulottuville ja koettavaksi sekä hahmottaa maailman muutoksia tieteen ja taiteen yhdistävissä perspektiiveissä.

Näyttelyyn haetaan avoimen haun kautta valmiita taideteoksia rajaamatta teoksen mediaa tai tekniikkaa; teokset voivat olla niin kuvataidetta kuin jatkumollisia performansseja, dokumentaarisia yms. Taiteilijan on kuitenkin hyvä olla tietoinen siitä, että Annantalon kohdeyleisöä ovat 0–15-vuotiaat, mikä säätelee osittain näyttelyyn liittyviä käytäntöjä kuten esim. ripustuksen korkeus.

Palkkio ja muut korvaukset
Palkkio määräytyy taiteilijoiden määrän mukaan ja on minimissään 500€ + Kuvaston korvaus per taiteilija verokortilla maksettuna. Kuvasto-korvaukset maksetaan Kuvaston kautta. Teosten mahdollisiin materiaali- ja teknisiin kustannuksiin on myös varattu rahaa harkinnan mukaan. Liitä hakemukseen mukaan tarvittaessa materiaalibudjetti.

Annantalo vastaa teosten kuljetuksista Uudenmaan alueella ja pidemmistä kuljetuksista mahdollisuuksien mukaan. Mahdollisista ulkomaankuljetuksista keskustellaan erikseen.

Teokseen liittyvä työpaja
Halutessasi voit ehdottaa teoksen lisäksi teemoja käsittelevää työpajaa tai teoksen sijasta pelkkää työpajaa. Työpaja tulisi toteuttaa osana Lasten Designviikkoa aikavälillä 7.–13.9.2020 ja sen kohdeyleisönä ovat 7–13-vuotiaat. Kyseessä on noin päivän mittainen nonstop-työpaja, josta maksetaan erillinen palkkio, 450€ verokortilla maksettuna.

Lasten Designviikon teemana vuonna 2020 on ‘Commitment Matters’, joka pohjautuu ajatukseen, että kaikki muutos vaatii sitoutumista.

Hakemus
Lähetä hakemuksesi sähköisen hakujärjestelmämme kautta. Hakemuksen tulee sisältää hakijan yhteystiedot, CV, teoksen tai tyopajan lyhyt esittelyteksti ja tekniset tarpeet, enintään 5 teoskuvaa sekä budjetti.

Tietoa yhteistyötahoista

Biotaiteen Seura kehittää, tuottaa ja fasilitoi aktiviteetteja, jotka käsittelevät taidetta ja luonnontieteitä sekä keskittyvät yleensä biologiaan, ekologiaan tai biotieteisiin. Seuralla on SOLU-niminen taidetila, taiteellinen laboratorio ja taiteen, tieteen ja yhteiskunnan yhdistävä alusta Katajanokalla, Helsingissä. Yhteistyössä Helsingin yliopiston kanssa Biotaiteen seuralla on Ars Bioarctica -residenssiohjelma Kilpisjärven Biologisella Tutkimusasemalla. Ars Bioarctica keskittyy taiteen ja tieteen yhdistämiseen subarktisessa ympäristössä. Biotaiteen Seura on perustettu vuonna 2008 ja sillä on yli 110 jäsentä niin Suomessa kuin muissa maissa.

Annantalo on lasten, nuorten ja perheiden taidekeskus Helsingissä. Annantalon periaatteena on luoda suotuisa ilmapiiri ja edellytykset lapsille ja nuorille taiteen ja kulttuurin kokemiseen, tekemiseen ja näkemiseen Helsingissä sekä tuoda lapset ja nuoret täysivaltaisiksi toimijoiksi kaupungin taide- ja kulttuurielämässä.

OPEN CALL for art & science works and workshop

Application deadline 14.2.2020

The Bioart Society and Annantalo Art Centre in Helsinki, Finland are launching an open call for existing artworks and a workshop that relates to art & science and art & ecology, for a group exhibition to be held in the Annatalo main gallery space 3.6. - 31.10.2020. The group exhibition is part of the auxiliary program for the Helsinki Biennial 2020.

The exhibition explores that which cannot be perceived by the human senses. The theme can be approached in a multitude of ways: as small, important or invisible; as something imperceptible, as  relationships  and their scope or scale, or as something far-reaching into space or  time, on earth and throughout the universe. The exhibition aims to bring contemporary art for all to experience, especially children and young people, and to perceive changes in the world from the perspective of science and art.

We are looking  for existing artworks of all media and techniques. The work can be eg. visual art, continuous performance, documentary, sculpture, installations etc. Artists should be aware that Annantalo’s primary audiences vary from 0 to 15 years of age, this partially affects, for example, at what level artworks are exhibited.

Fee and other costs
The artist fee will be a minimum of 500€ when paid with tax card. Artists will also be paid copyright compensations for the exhibited works in accordance to price listings set out in the Finnish copyright code for artworks (Kuvasto.fi). Material and technical costs for artworks will be covered to a certain extent, please attach a budget to your application.

Annantalo covers the transport of artworks within the Uusimaa region, as well as longer transports as much as possible. International transports will need to be considered.

Workshop related to the artwork
In addition we are inviting proposals for a workshop related to the work or the exhibition themes, but one can also apply with a workshop instead of an artwork. The workshop will take place during the Children’s Design Week 7. - 13.9.2020. This is a one-day non-stop workshop for children aged 7 - 13 years. There is a separate workshop fee of 450€ to be paid with tax card to the artist. Materials for the workshops will be covered.

The theme for the Children’s Design Week 2020 is ‘Commitment Matters’, which is based on the notion that change requires a commitment.

Information about the collaborators

Bioart Society is a Helsinki-based association developing, producing and facilitating activities around art and natural sciences with an emphasis on biology, ecology and life sciences. It runs SOLU Space, an artistic laboratory and platform for art, science and society in Katajanokka, Helsinki, and - together with the Kilpisjärvi Biological Station of the University of Helsinki - Ars Bioarctica, an art & science program with a focus on the sub-Arctic environment.
