I am a visual artist with a collaborative practice loosely centred around painting and illustration. I have a great love for all sorts of organisms whose lives are very different from our own and spend my time trying to get to know plants, bacteria, fungi, lichens, humans and slime moulds.
With a background in Fine Art, I combine artistic and scientific approaches to make pictures to help get acquainted with others, the relationships between all of us and the world, and the spaces in between. I have a special interest in plants that nodulate with nitrogen-fixing bacteria.
I teach botanical illustration at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, where I plan to begin an MSc in Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants in autumn 2018.
Residency period:
18 Jun — 1 Jul 2015
