Midsummernight
Posted on June 20th, 2009 No commentsYesterday was the Juhannus evening and we had a really nice sauna in a sauna-cabin of the biological research station on the lake. On Juhannus Finland celebrates the longest day of the year. Here up-north it means its the time when the sun is highest during midnight. After sauna we grill some sausages. The wind from north was rather unpleasant (the sausages cooled down pretty instantly when we took them from the fire ;-) and so we soon went back to the cabin.
Here some images from the midnightsun. The surrounding is only so dark because of the camera, the other non-sun picture shows the lighting condition in the darkest hour.

Finally arrived
Posted on June 19th, 2009 No commentsAfter a 13h car drive from Kurikka we (Laura, Ada and me) finally arrived on monday 3 oclock in the morning in Kilpisjärvi. It was a rainy drive through the beautiful ever changing landscape of Lapland but with enough light as there is midnightsun since mid of Mai.
Here a few glimpes of our cabin on the lake, surrounded by partly still snow covered mountains.
